Grande-Terre is the right wing of the Guadeloupian butterfly. It is here that we find some of the most beautiful beaches in Guadeloupe: turquoise sea, white sand, leaning coconut trees and cliffs sculpted by the wind. Each beach has its atmosphere, its energy, its decor.
Some are perfect for a family day out. Others attract surfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. Some still invite you to walk and explore the coastline.
To fully discover the beaches of Grande-Terre in Guadeloupe, you must agree to move, to hit the road and to let yourself be guided by the weather, the wind and your desires of the day.
Get your rental car at the airport and start with the nearest beach, Le Gosier, then let yourself be carried away along the coast to the east before going up to the north of Grande-Terre, beach after beach. Let's go!
Datcha beach — Le Gosier
Located in the heart of Gosier, Datcha Beach is often the first contact with the Guadeloupe lagoon. Calm water, fine sand, seaside restaurants: the atmosphere is friendly and lively, especially at the end of the day.
But the real asset of La Datcha is just across the street: the islet of Gosier.
It can be reached by swimming (about 300 meters) or by shuttle from Anse Tabarin (the small beach just next to Datcha). On site, a small restaurant, shaded areas, superb seabed and an iconic lighthouse offer a more natural break.

Petit Saint-Félix beach — Nature and panorama
Petit Saint-Félix beach offers a wilder setting. Clear sand, dense vegetation, open horizon: the place breathes fresh air.
What makes this site particularly interesting is the coastal path that starts from the beach.
Walking east, you reach Petit Havre along the coast. Cliffs, viewpoints and small coves punctuate the route. The hike is slightly sporty but accessible and very pleasant.
Petit Havre Beach — Relaxation and secret coves
Petit Havre is one of the locals' favorite beaches. Its protected lagoon allows peaceful swimming. The water is clear, shallow near the shore, ideal for a quiet morning.
Nearby, two small coves are worth a visit: Anse à Jacques and Anse Patate. More discreet, they appeal to those looking for a more intimate setting.
Salines beach — The spot for kitesurfers
Les Salines beach is above all a famous kitesurfing spot in Guadeloupe. The constant wind and the open space make it an ideal playground for snow sports enthusiasts. From the road, the large colored wings easily indicate the location.
Even for spectators, the aerial ballet of the sails is worth the trip.
Caravelle beach — Sainte-Anne
Probably one of the most photographed beaches in Grande-Terre.
Turquoise water, bright white sand and coconut trees make up a typical postcard setting. Located opposite Club Med, Caravelle Beach is perfect for swimming. The lagoon is shallow and secure, ideal for families.
Depending on the swell, surfers can also enjoy the waves outside. Kitesurfing and windsurfing lessons are also given just next to La Caravelle
Bourg Beach — Sainte-Anne
Right in the city center, Bourg Beach combines sea and local life. You can spend the day alternating swimming, walking to the market, visiting the craft village and stopping for lunch in one of the restaurants on the beach.
For a simpler atmosphere, a bokit or coconut sorbet is enough to complete the day. All the ingredients are there for a successful family outing.

Helleux beach — Surfing atmosphere
East of Sainte-Anne, Helleux Beach offers a rawer atmosphere. Pebble beach, powerful waves, clear horizon: surfers particularly appreciate this area. At the end of the day, it is recommended to go up to the cliffs that border the beach to admire the sunset.
Bois Jolan — Great with children
Bois Jolan is a huge, shady and very shallow beach. You can walk in water for a long time without it going beyond your knees. The site is quiet, perfect for picnicking under the grape trees and letting the children play in complete serenity.
Attention, the first part of Bois Jolan beach (which is very long) is reserved for kitesurfers. for families and relaxation, it is a little further away.

La Douche beach — Saint-François
On La Douche beach, you can observe and experience an astonishing natural phenomenon.
The waves rush into a rock cavity and come out in geysers, splashing those that are placed in the natural basin. The spectacle is impressive when the sea is rough.
Pointe des Chateaux and Anse à la Gourde
The Pointe des Châteaux is one of the most emblematic sites in Guadeloupe.
An arid landscape, steep cliffs and a spectacular view of La Désirade make up a unique setting. A short hike leads to the summit for an exceptional panorama. Not far away, Anse à la Gourde offers a quieter setting for swimming.
And if you like wild beaches, you can also plan a Escapade to Marie-Galante, renowned for its preserved areas.

Anse-Bertrand — La Chapelle Beach
Located in Anse-Bertrand, La Chapelle beach is pleasant for a day out with the family. When the conditions are right, it also becomes a beautiful surfing spot. Competitions are regularly organized there.
A footpath allows you to reach Port Louis in about two hours. The ideal is to provide two vehicles and leave one upon arrival to avoid returning on foot.
Souffleur Beach — Port Louis
Le Souffleur is one of the most versatile beaches in Grande-Terre. You can swim in the lagoon, surf on various spots or practice nautical activities such as towed buoys, jet skis or parasailing. It is a lively beach, suitable for outings with family or friends.
