They just arrived at Parc des Mamelles !!

Here they are : two young cougars just arrived in the zoo since the beginning of december. Their presence symbolise the hard work in close collaboration with EAZA worldwide association for species reproduction and preservation.

Let us introduce our two felines in few words :

Cougar is a nocturnal and solitary feline that hunts from a hide. His scientific name «concolor» means «one color» and refer to his unicolor coat. He has got an excellent eyesight in darkness and is able to run up to 50km/h. He is tracking down his preys and attacks them from behind. Furthermore, he can make 4 to 5 meters high jumps, without run-up (it is a record in animal reign). Even if he is a good swimmer, he'd rather avoid water.
